ASAHI Gaia Next®Product Code (REF): AH14R019P
ASAHI Gaia Next® is the second-generation evolution of the original Gaia rotating-core CTO guidewire series. While retaining the composite core construction that delivers precise 1:1 torque at high tip loads, Gaia Next refines the coil geometry at the distal segment for smoother tactile feedback during wire manipulation — operators report a more granular feel as the tip probes fibrous and calcified tissue, allowing earlier detection of true-lumen entry versus subintimal passage. Tip load grades are re-calibrated compared to the original Gaia series: Next 1 at 2 gf replaces First (1.7 gf), Next 2 at 4 gf replaces Second (3.5 gf), and Next 3 at 6 gf replaces Third (4.5 gf). The increased tip loads in Next 2 and Next 3 extend the range of fibrocalcific lesions accessible with rotating-core technique before escalating to very high tip-load wires such as Confianza Pro. All Gaia Next variants are available in 190 cm length only, with pre-shape tip, 0.011–0.012/0.014 in tapered diameter, and 40 cm hydrophilic coating.
Available under product codes AH14R019P, AH14R020P, AH14R021P.

XTRAND Coil
While ASAHI Gaia Next enables flexibility for deflection control, its original anti- damage feature, increases durability when trapped. - Lower risk of guide wire damage It avoids guide wire breakage even incase of trapping. - Increased anti trapping power It improves maneuverability in order to avoid guide wire trapping.

Request DocumentationFrequently Asked Questions
- What is the ASAHI Gaia Next® series and how does it improve on the original Gaia series?
- The ASAHI Gaia Next® series is the second-generation rotating-core CTO guidewire family. It refines the original Gaia’s coil geometry for improved tactile feedback and recalibrates tip loads upward: Gaia Next 1 (2 gf), Next 2 (4 gf), and Next 3 (6 gf) versus First (1.7 gf), Second (3.5 gf), and Third (4.5 gf). Gaia Next 3’s 6 gf tip significantly extends the torque-driven crossing range before requiring escalation to Confianza Pro.
- What catalog numbers are available for ASAHI Gaia Next®?
- Gaia Next 1: AH14R019P (Pre-shape, 190 cm). Gaia Next 2: AH14R020P (Pre-shape, 190 cm). Gaia Next 3: AH14R021P (Pre-shape, 190 cm). All Gaia Next wires are only available in 190 cm (unlike the original Gaia series which offered both 190 cm and 300 cm). All are pre-shape tip only, 0.011–0.012/0.014 in tapered diameter, 40 cm hydrophilic coating.
- What is the tip load of Gaia Next 1, 2, and 3?
- Gaia Next 1: 2 gf. Gaia Next 2: 4 gf. Gaia Next 3: 6 gf. Compared to the original series (1.7/3.5/4.5 gf), each Gaia Next grade delivers more tip force at the same position in the escalation algorithm. The 6 gf of Gaia Next 3 is particularly significant — it bridges the gap between the original Gaia Third (4.5 gf) and Confianza Pro (9 gf), providing an intermediate penetrating force for caps that resisted Gaia Third but may not yet require a needle-tip wire.
- When should I use Gaia Next 3 versus Confianza Pro?
- Use Gaia Next 3 when the original Gaia Third (4.5 gf) has failed but the lesion has a fibrous rather than purely fibrocalcific character — Gaia Next 3’s 6 gf rotating-core tip can penetrate organized fibrous caps that resist standard Gaia while still offering the torque-driven steering that Confianza Pro lacks. Escalate to Confianza Pro (9 gf) when Gaia Next 3 cannot advance and the lesion has a clearly calcified, hard cap that requires needle-tip penetration rather than rotating-core drilling.
- Is Gaia Next® available in 300 cm exchange length?
- No. Gaia Next is only available in 190 cm (pre-shape tip). If a 300 cm exchange length is needed for over-the-wire device exchanges without wire removal, use the original Gaia series (First: AHW14R307P, Second: AHW14R308P, Third: AHW14R311P) which offers both 190 cm and 300 cm options.
