ASAHI Gladius® EX sets a new standard of middle-weight, non-tapered polymer-jacketed guidewires for coronary CTO intervention. The full polymer jacket with hydrophilic coating lets the wire slip through microchannels and loose tissue planes within the occlusion body, while the middle-weight tip provides more penetration and directional authority than soft tapered polymer wires such as Fielder XT-A — without stepping up to a stiff drilling wire. This makes Gladius EX suited to antegrade crossing of CTOs with tortuous or poorly defined architecture, and to the knuckle-wire technique: the non-tapered tip forms a controlled loop that tracks the vessel course with reduced perforation risk. Built on the 0.014 in platform, compatible with standard coronary microcatheters for support and exchange.
