ASAHI Gladius® MG extends the Gladius platform with a modified core construction designed to minimise wire prolapse — the tendency of a polymer-jacketed tip to buckle and fold back on itself when pushed against a resistant proximal cap. By resisting prolapse, Gladius MG keeps the tip aligned with the intended penetration vector, letting the operator apply forward force at fibrous caps and within the occlusion body without losing directional control. In the CTO wire escalation sequence it occupies the step where a standard middle-weight polymer wire deflects or folds, but a full stiff-wire escalation is not yet justified. The polymer jacket and hydrophilic coating preserve the low-friction tracking of the Gladius family in both antegrade and retrograde strategies. 0.014 in platform, compatible with standard coronary microcatheters.
