ASAHI Veloute®: ‘More Selective, More Effective’ — the 1.7 Fr Distal-Selectivity Microcatheter
By Modern Medical Solutions Editorial Team

Veloute’s 0.58 mm (1.7 Fr) distal shaft, composite two-thickness braiding and gradual taper are all aimed at one goal: reaching further into small target vessels while keeping manual contrast injection smooth.
Distal Selectivity by Design
ASAHI Veloute® is a selective microcatheter for interventional radiology whose slogan — more selective, more effective — states its purpose. The distal shaft measures 0.58 mm (1.7 Fr) with a 0.43 mm (0.017 in) lumen, stepping up to 0.94 mm (2.8 Fr) proximally with a 0.59 mm (0.023 in) lumen.
Composite Braiding and Gradual Taper
Proprietary composite braiding of two wire thicknesses gives the shaft its manoeuvrability, and the gradual taper design provides high tactile feedback while keeping manual contrast injection smooth — the practical balance a superselective catheter must strike.
Wire Pairing and Configurations
Veloute accepts guidewires up to 0.41 mm (0.016 in) and was developed for compatibility with the ASAHI Meister wire. Straight and angled tips are offered in 105, 125 and 150 cm usable lengths with 65 cm of hydrophilic coating (100 cm on the 150 cm version); the catheter is rated to 6,895 kPa (1,000 psi).
Ordering
