Fielder® XTProduct Code (REF): AGP140002
Fielder® XT is Asahi Intecc's primary antegrade CTO guidewire for microchannel exploration. Its defining feature is a tapered distal tip that reduces from the standard 0.014 in (0.36 mm) shaft to 0.009 in (0.23 mm) at the tip — allowing entry into the tight microchannels and pores that develop within organized thrombus and fibrous tissue inside a chronic total occlusion. The full-length polymer + hydrophilic coating (16 cm distal) provides the low-friction tracking needed to advance through these small-caliber paths with minimal force. With a tip load of approximately 0.8 gf, Fielder XT sits in the moderate range for CTO wires — enough to probe and probe into soft occlusion tissue, but not so stiff that it risks perforating the vessel wall when it meets a hard fibrocalcific cap. The standard clinical algorithm places it as the first antegrade CTO wire after frontline wires fail: if a microchannel exists, Fielder XT will typically find it. When the occlusion is harder or denser and Fielder XT cannot advance, the escalation path leads to Fielder XT-A (stiffer proximal shaft), Fielder XT-R (tapered softer tip), or the Gaia series for high-tip-load torque-driven crossing. Fielder XT is available in straight tip only, in 190 cm and 300 cm lengths, with a 0.23/0.36 mm tapered outer diameter, 16 cm coil length, and 16 cm radiopaque segment.

Request DocumentationFrequently Asked Questions
- What is Fielder® XT and what is it used for?
- Fielder® XT is Asahi Intecc's primary antegrade CTO guidewire for microchannel probing. It has a tapered 0.009/0.014 in tip and a full-length polymer + hydrophilic coating designed to find and track through the microchannels that develop inside a chronic total occlusion. With a tip load of approximately 0.8 gf, it probes soft CTO tissue without perforating when it meets a hard fibrocalcific cap.
- What is the catalog number for Fielder® XT?
- Fielder® XT is available in two lengths: AGP140002 (Straight tip, 190 cm) and AGP140302 (Straight tip, 300 cm). Both have a tapered 0.23/0.36 mm (0.009/0.014 in) outer diameter, 16 cm coil length, 16 cm radiopaque segment, and 16 cm polymer + hydrophilic coating.
- What is the tip load of Fielder® XT?
- Fielder® XT has a tip load of approximately 0.8 gf. This places it firmly in the CTO category — significantly higher than the SION frontline family's 0.5–0.8 gf range used for routine PCI — but lower than the Gaia series (1.7–4.5 gf) and Confianza Pro (9–12 gf) used for harder occlusions.
- What is the difference between Fielder XT, XT-A, and XT-R?
- All three share the same tapered 0.009/0.014 in tip profile and hydrophilic coating. Fielder XT is the standard version. Fielder XT-A (Advanced) stiffens the proximal shaft for better pushability once a microchannel path has been identified (tip load ≈ 1 gf). Fielder XT-R (Reverse) softens the tip to ≈ 0.6 gf for controlled re-entry into the true lumen after subintimal passage.
- What microcatheter should be used with Fielder® XT?
- Fielder® XT is used with a supportive microcatheter immediately behind it — typically ASAHI Corsair Pro or Corsair Pro XS for most CTO cases, or ASAHI Caravel for smaller, more tortuous vessels. The microcatheter provides back-up support to prevent wire buckling, enables guidewire exchange once the wire has crossed, and can be advanced through the occlusion body independently using its rotational drilling motion.
- Where can I order Fielder® XT?
