Fielder® XT is Asahi Intecc's primary antegrade CTO guidewire for microchannel exploration. Its defining feature is a tapered distal tip that reduces from the standard 0.014 in (0.36 mm) shaft to 0.009 in (0.23 mm) at the tip — allowing entry into the tight microchannels and pores that develop within organized thrombus and fibrous tissue inside a chronic total occlusion. The full-length polymer + hydrophilic coating (16 cm distal) provides the low-friction tracking needed to advance through these small-caliber paths with minimal force. With a tip load of approximately 0.8 gf, Fielder XT sits in the moderate range for CTO wires — enough to probe and probe into soft occlusion tissue, but not so stiff that it risks perforating the vessel wall when it meets a hard fibrocalcific cap. The standard clinical algorithm places it as the first antegrade CTO wire after frontline wires fail: if a microchannel exists, Fielder XT will typically find it. When the occlusion is harder or denser and Fielder XT cannot advance, the escalation path leads to Fielder XT-A (stiffer proximal shaft), Fielder XT-R (tapered softer tip), or the Gaia series for high-tip-load torque-driven crossing. Fielder XT is available in straight tip only, in 190 cm and 300 cm lengths, with a 0.23/0.36 mm tapered outer diameter, 16 cm coil length, and 16 cm radiopaque segment.
