Current evidence suggests that percutaneous occlusion of the left atrial appendage (LAA) reduces the risk of thromboembolic complications associated with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. The Amplatzer™ Amulet™ LAA Occluder is designed for complete occlusion of the LAA, thereby reducing the risk for ischemic stroke caused by atrial fibrillation. Since LAA anatomies come in all shapes and sizes, the Amulet features a broad size range of occluders. The device is engineered for optimal LAA occlusion with full cross-sectional orifice coverage, flexible braided nitinol mesh construction, and controlled, precise deployment. It provides a complete seal with the ability to conform to the inner wall of the LAA, and it can be recaptured and repositioned if needed. Landing zone sizes span 11 to 31 mm in diameter. Proximal device positioning allows for proper placement regardless of the distal anatomy or the existence of multiple distal lobes. Each device is supplied with a 145 cm delivery cable, a plastic vise for the delivery cable, a hemostasis valve, a loader, loading cable and plastic vise for the loading cable, and a sheath adaptor (16–25 mm devices only).
