Astato® 30 occupies the intermediate position in the Asahi peripheral CTO escalation strategy at 30 gf tip load — substantially more penetrating force than Treasure 12 (12 gf) and Astato XS 20 (20 gf) while using a standard (non-tapered-tip) 0.014 in wire profile rather than the XS reduced-tip geometry. This makes Astato 30 the preferred choice when the operator needs more tip-load than the XS 20 can provide but wants standard 0.014 in wire handling characteristics rather than the XS tapered-tip format. Operators escalate to Astato 30 when Astato XS 20 has provided partial advancement (suggesting the cap is responsive to tip load but not fully penetrated) or when the cap morphology suggests diffuse calcification where the XS geometry offers less advantage. Available in 200 cm and 300 cm, 0.014 in (0.36 mm).
