ASAHI Corsair® ProProduct Code (REF): CSR135-26P

ASAHI Corsair® Pro is the most widely used microcatheter in coronary CTO intervention globally. Unlike conventional microcatheters that are pushed forward over a guidewire, the Corsair Pro's braided shaft is designed to be rotated — the interwoven strands twist into the tissue like a drill bit, allowing the catheter to advance through fibrocalcific occlusion segments that would collapse a non-rotatable platform. The 1.3F tip and 2.6F distal shaft make it crossable through tight, calcified stenoses, while the 0.019 in inner lumen accepts a 0.014 in guidewire with room for contrast injection. In CTO procedures, Corsair Pro serves three roles: (1) guidewire back-up support during antegrade and retrograde crossing, (2) guidewire exchange once a wire has crossed, and (3) the rotational drilling tool itself when the occlusion body is fibrous enough to require a physical breakthrough force beyond what a guidewire tip can provide. The 60 cm hydrophilic coating enables free advancement once the tip has penetrated the occlusion body. It is the standard companion to all Asahi CTO wires including the Fielder series, Gaia series, and Confianza Pro. Corsair Pro is available in 135 cm and 150 cm working lengths, with an 0.38 mm (0.015 in) tip inner diameter and 0.45 mm (0.018 in) shaft inner diameter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ASAHI Corsair® Pro and what is it used for?
ASAHI Corsair® Pro is the most widely used coronary microcatheter in CTO intervention globally. Unlike conventional microcatheters that are pushed forward, Corsair Pro is rotated — its braided shaft drills through fibrous and calcified CTO segments. It serves three roles: guidewire back-up support during antegrade/retrograde crossing, guidewire exchange capability, and an independent crossing tool when the occlusion body is fibrous enough to require drilling advancement.
What are the catalog numbers for ASAHI Corsair® Pro?
ASAHI Corsair Pro is available in two lengths: CSR135-26P (135 cm working length) and CSR150-26P (150 cm working length). Both have a 1.3F tip OD (0.42 mm), 2.6F distal shaft OD (0.87 mm), 0.38 mm (0.015 in) tip ID, and 0.45 mm (0.018 in) shaft ID, with 60 cm hydrophilic coating.
What is the inner diameter of Corsair® Pro and which guidewires are compatible?
Corsair Pro has a tip inner diameter of 0.015 in (0.38 mm) and shaft inner diameter of 0.018 in (0.45 mm). It is compatible with all standard 0.014 in coronary guidewires including the full Asahi Intecc range: SION series, Fielder series, Gaia series, Confianza Pro, and GRAND SLAM. The larger shaft ID allows contrast injection through the microcatheter while the guidewire is in place.
What is the difference between Corsair® Pro and Corsair® Pro XS?
Corsair Pro has a 2.6F distal shaft; Corsair Pro XS has a 2.1F distal shaft — a 20% reduction in distal profile. Both have the same 1.3F tip. Corsair Pro XS is preferred when anatomy requires the smallest possible crossing profile, such as very tight CTO proximal caps or heavily calcified anatomy where the 2.6F shaft of the standard Pro cannot advance. Corsair Pro is the standard choice and handles the large majority of CTO cases.
How is Corsair® Pro used in retrograde CTO PCI?
In retrograde CTO PCI, Corsair Pro is advanced retrogradely via a collateral (septal or epicardial) channel into the CTO body, providing a retrograde access platform for wire externalization (RWE technique). The microcatheter's rotational drilling capability helps navigate tortuous collaterals, and its guidewire exchange function allows the retrograde wire to be exchanged for an externalization wire once it has passed through the occlusion.
