ASAHI Extension® is a 165 cm guidewire extension that docks onto the proximal end of an in-situ ASAHI PTCA guide wire, creating an exchange-length wire system without withdrawing the wire from its distal position. This allows the operator to exchange balloons, microcatheters, and other over-the-wire devices when only a standard 180 cm wire was placed initially — the combined length of approximately 345 cm provides sufficient external wire to hold distal position throughout device withdrawal and re-advancement. Particularly valuable in CTO PCI and complex intervention where the procedural strategy evolves mid-case and hard-won distal wire position must not be sacrificed for a device exchange. Compatible with all ASAHI 0.014 in PTCA guide wires.
